How to Turn off the App Library?

Do you want to know how to turn off the App Library? If so, then this article is for you. In iOS 14, the App Library shows all the apps currently installed on your iPhone on one page. These apps are automatically organized, making them easier to access. But how can you turn it off?

Sadly, it is impossible to disable the App Library, but there are ways to simplify it. Once you upgrade to iOS 14, the App Library appears by default. If you do not want to use it, you have the option to not use it by hiding it.

Methods to Ignore the App Library

There are many new features in Apple’s iOS 14 update. Android users are more familiar with the App Library, a feature available to them. Apple users have had mixed reactions to the addition since it was released on September 16.

Some users usually want to turn off the App Library. Unfortunately, you cannot switch off the App Library, but you can make it more convenient. The App Library will appear by default upon upgrading to iOS 14.

Method 1: Disable Notifications

It can be overpowering to sweep one page too far into the App Library and see the red numbers that indicate the number of notifications you’ve ignored.

If you accidentally run into the App Library, turning those notification badges off can be less intimidating. Follow these steps:

  • Open the Settings app on your phone.
  • Then tap on the home screen.
  • In the Notification option of the app, disable Show in App Library.

By doing so, you can disable the notifications of the App Library and ignore them.

Method 2: Show Home Screen Pages

Having all your home screen pages visible prevents you from reaching the dreaded App Library if you swipe too far. The following steps explain how to unhide a home screen page you have previously hidden, making it easier to ignore the App Library.

  • Your home screen will appear blank until you hold it for a few seconds until it becomes jiggly.
  • You can access your home page using the bottom bar of your screen.
  • Pages hidden from the home screen will not have a checkmark next. You can unhide them by tapping the empty circle.
  • Press Done.

Conclusion

The first time we try a new feature, including App Library, we may find it annoying. However, once you become accustomed to them, it will seem surprising how you managed without them.

In the same way, you may be surprised how you managed without the App Library in iOS 14. The best thing you can do becomes familiar with it as soon as possible.

Make sure you check out the categories your apps fall into, practice searching, and ensure you know how to move apps from your App Library to your Home screen.

Trying it out and discovering it’s not for you is also acceptable. You can hide it currently but may be able to remove it entirely in future updates. If the tool proves helpful to you, you might find yourself surprised.
